What is PostgreSQL CE?

PostgreSQL CE (PostgreSQL Certification Exam) is a qualification certification system targeted for engineers involved in PostgreSQL system development or management, PostgreSQL trainers and consultants. PostgreSQL CE offers an opportunity for a certified qualifier to show one's proven skill in managing PostgreSQL database systems, and offers an evaluation standard that System Integrators and Information System Departments could rely on. PostgreSQL CE's certification system is administered by SRA OSS, and the examination is administered by Pearson VUE.

Certification System

Qualification Certification is divided into several categories according to PostgreSQL's major version numbers and technical levels. Major version number is the first two digits of the PostgreSQL version number. For example, PostgreSQL 7.4 and PostgreSQL 7.4.3 belong to the major version 7.4. Technical levels are categorized as Gold or Silver level.

Targeted Version Silver Qualification Gold Qualification
PostgreSQL 7.4.x PostgreSQL CE 7.4 Silver PostgreSQL CE 7.4 Gold
PostgreSQL 8.0.x PostgreSQL CE 8 Silver PostgreSQL CE 8 Gold

There are required exams for each qualification, and you will be certified by passing all the required exams. For example, to be certified for PostgreSQL CE 7.4 Gold qualification, you must pass the PostgreSQL CE 7.4 Silver examination and the PostgreSQL CE 7.4 Gold examination. For more information about each qualification/examination, please refer to Qualification Certification page.

PostgreSQL CE can be taken at the Testing Centers throughout the country. Please refer to the Pearson VUE Testing Centers page for locations.

You must agree on the Confidentiality Agreement for the PostgreSQL CE examination prior to taking the exam. The exam cannot be taken unless you agree on this agreement.

There is a "Retake Policy" for PostgreSQL CE. An examinee cannot retake the same exam for 7 days after the same exam has been taken. This policy also applies, with some exceptions, for examinees who passed the exam.

Certified Qualifiers

A certificate will be sent to you after successfully completing the exam. The certificate is a PDF file, which is protected by the digital signature, and is sent to the e-mail address registered before the examination.

An unique ID and password are also issued with the certificate. Certified Qualifier can login to our web site, with the issued ID and password, to check one's qualifications, to download the certified logos, and to request to reissue the certificate.
